It Will Rock Your Face Off!
So on Friday night, I went to my final concert of 2005 – El Monstero y Los Masked Avengers. Let me give you some brief descriptions. Packed. Loud. Fire. Costumes. Lasers. Smoke. Flames. Pot. Lots of it. But not mine of course. The Machine. Expensive beer. 20 minute bathroom line. Stir. Joe Dirt. Dr. Chivegas (sp?). King of the Hill. 3 hours long. Sexy back up singers. KSHE. 3 nights. Floyd. Rock!
El Monstero y Los Masked Avengers perform a tribute to Pink Floyd every year. This year, they performed three shows that were all sold out. El Monstero y Los Masked Avengers is basically a supergroup of former STL bands – Stir, the Urge, King of the Hill, Joe Dirt, and Dr. Chivegas. This was the fifth year that the band has put on the show and they say that 2005 was the largest selling year.
The show was really intense and the band did an amazing job. So amazing that if you closed your eyes, you would swear that you were listening to the real Floyd. The band played through most of The Wall during the first set and then most of Dark Side of the Moon during the second set. The stage was surronded with fire and spark cannons, graffiti cannons, and lasers. The backdrop to the stage was two screens displaying Floyd art and at one point, clips from Wizard of Oz. The air was filled with smoke from machines and smoke from the wacky tobaccy. Every wear I looked, I spotted somebody sparking up their stash. Old. Young. Male. Female. White. Black. Straight. Gay. It didnt matter. They were all there to get high and rock out to Floyd. Personally, I was just there to rock out to Floyd.
So anyways, I would recommend everybody go to the show next year. And I have updated my Best Of concert list, you’ll find it below.
