So did anybody watch the Grammys last night? I generally try to avoid award shows because they are just getting ridonkulously boring. However, there is one good feature that the Grammys have that brings me back every year. Rule #1: All musical acts must perform life. No mixing, no remixing, no recorded backups. Just the real deal. I guess that leaves Ashley Simpson off the list to perform
Anywho, so I was able to watch some of the show. The intro was pretty cool this year featuring The Animated Gorillaz along with Madonna. I tell you what, those Gorillaz have got that animation thing down. I was happy to see Green Day get the record of the year but disappointed to see U2 get album of the year, song of the year, best rock song, best rock album, and best rock performance by a group. Of course, I’m biased because I care not for the current U2. Now, Joshua U2 was good. But How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb U2 just needs to hang it up and focus on saving the world. Apparently, other people (important ones that have a say in the matter) don’t think like I do.
I’ve also decided that I’ve been missing out on great music by not listening to John Legend, what with winning Best New Artist, Best R&B Album and Best R&B Male Vocal Performance. That man has got some talent. After seeing him perform at the Super Bore game and at the Grammys, I’ve decide to “try out” some of his songs. If they are good, I’ll pick up the cd. Krissy was raving about him like he was the next sensation or something, for whatever thats worth.
Interesting to see Maroon 5 beat out not only the White Stripes, but also the Killers for Best Pop Performance by a group. Don’t get me wrong, I like Maroon 5 but they’re not on the same level as the other two. However, the White Stripes did pick up a grammy for Best Alternative Album. Well deserved.
I also can’t believe that Bruce Springsteen beat out Rob Thomas for Best Solo Rock Performance. I mean, COME ON, it’s Rob fuckin’ Thomas. He’s a class act! DAT. Yeah, some of you know what I’m talking about.
