Enough with the changes already

It seemed not to many people cared for the Cardinals theme so I’ve changed it yet again.  Feel free to let me know what you think.

That time of year again

So, it’s getting to be that time of year again when bands start annoucing their summer tours for the year and I have to start budgeting money for ticket purchases.  Now last year, I was on a concert moratorium because funds were a little tight.  It looks like this summer might provide me with a little wiggle room so that I can get to some shows.   Already on the list of shows to see is the Strokes, playing at the Pageant on April 8th.  Also, tentatively on the list, is the DMB show at UMB (formerly known as Riverport) on May 31.  I skipped the DMB show last year and really would like to go this year since G. Love and the Special Sauce will be opening.  Ticket prices have been set and its  $60 for reserved and $40 for lawn. :-o  <– In case you couldn’t tell, that is my shocked face.

Now Dave, I know that in 2005, DMB only placed, like, 7th for highest grossing tours of the year.  That doesn’t mean you have to shoot for the number 1 spot.  Shit, I love DMB but I’m not paying $60 to sit in a seat this year.  Looks like I’ll be parking my ass on the lawn with the other 15,000 people for this show.

I’m hoping that there will be a couple more bands rumbling through STL this year.  It looks like the Darkness will be hitting the states late this year touring on their latest album.  I wouldn’t mind seeing some older bands, like BNL or the Counting Crows, do a random tour.  Hopefully, none of the bands that I want to see will be playing the Savvis.  Talk about your worst sound quality concert ever.  I would also like to make another trip to KC and catch a show at the Starlight Theatre but nothing except for Depeche Mode has been scheduled for the venue.

Speaking of KC, it looks like I will be making another trip to KC to watch a Royals / Cards game.  It will be the third weekend in May, which just happens to be my birthday weekend.  I’m not telling you the day, so you’re out of luck if you don’t already know.  But you can still give me presents around that time.  Anywho, if anybody wants to make the trip with my dad and I, give me a holla.  Thats twice in one day that I’ve said holla.

A Priest, A Monkey, and A Banker Walk Into a Bar

Not really a joke but it makes for a good post title.  I hope everybody had a chance to put in some votes for Lindsay.  She’s going to keep me posted how it turns out so I’ll be sure to keep you posted as well, my loyal 8 readers.

So last night was our weekly poker match.  I didnt win but I didnt lose either, came in second.  So at least I broke even and got my entry fee back.

Next Friday is St. Patty’s day and since my Mardi Gras sucked ass, I’m going to make sure this holiday is a little better.  I am taking the day off of work, finally a day off.  Around 8 in the morning, a couple of us will be heading to Growlers to get the day started with some Guiness and eggs.  You know they say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  After that will lotsa drinking and watching the NCAA tournament, which hopefully Duke will win.  That afternoon/early evening, we’ll probably end up going to some pub to take in the debauchery with others.  If anybody wants to join us, feel free to give me a holla.

Watch out for the goat….

Poker chips

Well, you can’t win everytime.  So much for back-to-back wins at the weekly poker match.  Sometimes, you just don’t get the cards to play with and never get a position that a good bluff will pay off.  But, at least I wasn’t first man out.

After poker, I went home to watch Waiting, the new quick-to-DVD raunchy comedy.  In case you don’t know, Waiting is about a twenty-somthing, four years removed from high school, coming to terms with his shitty life and that he is still just a waiter.  Sounds pretty lame but while but its the shit that goes on around him that makes this move hilarious.  The cast of Waiting includes Ryan Reynolds, Justin Long, Chi McBride, Luis Guzman, Anna Faris, and a handful of other lesser known actors that do a great job.  If you rent this movie, watch the Bonus Features, also freakin’ hilarious.  All I can say is, watch out for the Goat.
