Snakes continue to improve, new personal bests, the bet of the season

After an amazing week 1, when somehow RABC magically transformed into SoaL giving the team a boost in skillz, week 2 was even better.  Every snake improved their average as the snakes have their best week ever (including the summer season dba RABC).  Jen’s average is up 18 sticks over last season, Bob is up 30 pins, Brandon up 26, and Andrew is up 32!  Andrew rolled his first 500, Bob rolled his first 600, and Brandon rolled his first 700.  SoaL won all seven points and are now 12 and 2 on the season (.857 winning %).

Beavers eager for fall success

With two seasons of shame behind us, the beavers were ready to turn things up.  The fall season got underway last night at the Pavillion with a 3-game set at 6:30 against Players Gone Wild.  Let me tell you something, I was expecting a team of college aged kids bringing their A-game, since that is what seemed to be for every team in the summer.  What we got, was a bunch of middle-aged men and women who barely had a grasp on the fundamentals of the game.  However, they gave us a good challenge the first two games.  It seems to be that we don’t get warmed up until the third game.

In game one, I lost the paper rock scissors pre-game challenge that determines court side and first serve.  Being that the game was at 6:30, it was key that I win since the sun shining from the west blinds the team on the east side of the court.  So I lost and of course Players chose the west side, leaving us to stare in the sun.  We fell to an early deficit and trailed by 4 or 5 points most of the game.  In the end though, we fought back and won 21 – 19.

The second game was our chance to take a two game lead since the Players would now have to deal with the sun.  However, this was not the case as one of their players and some kind of mystical serve that nobody could manage to return.  With the score 15 – 6, Peimann called a time-out to break the momentum.  The beavers gathered their composer and returned to the court ready to go.  We returned the next serve and eventually took the point and it was our turn to serve.  Score:  15 – 7.  It was Amanda’s turn to serve, who is always consistent with the underhand approach.  Let by Amanda’s serving skillz, the beavers ran for 13 straight points.  Score:  15 – 20.  The Players scored another before blowing their chances for a comeback.  Final score, 16 – 21 Beavers.

During third game, the Beavers continued with the momentum.  Amanda started us off serving and quickly but us up by four.  Almost every beaver served for a few points when it was their turn and we never looked back.  Peimann would score our final three points to finish the Players off.  The final score was something like 21 – 10.

So we won three games, that is the first time the Beavers have ever pulled that off.  Also, we are on a winning streak, a first as well.  Also, we are undefeated, granted it has only been one week.

Do you have SoaL?

Well, the summer season is over, no more practice.  Its time to get down to business and bowl like I know we can.  After switching from Wednesday night leagues to Thursday nights, then to Tuesday nights, then to Monday nights, we finally ended up on the Sunday night league at Olivette.  And when I say we, I am referring to the team formally known as the Rushmore Academy Bowling Club.  For this season, we have decided to make a change to the name, to pay homage to the latest and greatest movie that will change the lives of many.  The new team name:    SNAKES ON A LANE.  Damn right, Snakes on a Mothafuckin’ Lane.

You’ve got gold – AOL goes digging

AOL is going to dig up a backyard in search of buried treasure. No. Really.

America Online is prepared to take a backhoe to a Medfield couple’s yard in a search for as much as $500,000 in hidden gold and platinum bars it believes may have been buried there by the family’s neo-Nazi son who made millions off of Internet spam scams.

Beavers Smooth in Final 3 Weeks

Beavers smooth.  Ha, thats funny.

So, the summer volleyball season has come to end.  Thank God, what a dismal season.  Our ending record, 5 and 22.  Thats like Royals style right there.  However, if continue to play the fall season like we did the final three weeks, things may go a little better.  The beavers went 3 and 6 the last three weeks but showed much improvement as a team playing together, instead of 5 or 6 individuals playing towards the same goal.  With better skillz, a new night, and maybe some team shirts, the beavers’ fall season looks promising.
