the list grows….

Add Branyan to the free agent list from St. Louis.  now this one just breaks my heart.  Oh wait, no it doesn’t.  Branyan is washed up and we’re better off without him.

However, this just in, Schilling of the Bo’ Red Sox would conisder playing in St. Louis, for the right price of course.

Baseball is over, sort of. It’s time for off-season deals and free agency….

Cardinal players who have opted for free agency:

  • David Eckstein
  • Troy Percival
  • Kip Wells
  • Miguel Cairo

The only player that I would want the Cardinals to keep is Percival.  Another one-year deal with him as Izzy’s set up man would be ideal to the bullpen.  Eckstein is a great guy and plays with a big hart but I’d rather use a guy that can consistently play at a higher level.  I would suggest using Brendan Ryan as the everyday shortstop.  Pitching should be our priority though.

Week Nine Review (a post from snakesonalane.com)

Coming off a mediocre week 8, SoaL needed a good week to not only lift the team’s spirit but to keep them in the hunt for the five. Starting week nine, SoaL is sitting comfortably at seventh place and would be taking on the Rockets, who are sitting pretty low in the standings although have the men’s high averaged bowler.

Game one went pretty well and everybody bowled above their average. Except for me, coming up eleven pins short. Jen bowled well surpassing her average by 20 pins and Bob was six over, both earning one point. Andrew rolled his highest game of the season with a 210, picking up two points towards the bet. SoaL wins game one.

Game two went just as well for the team, again, with the exception of me. Frustrated after game one and struggling to find a consistent shot, I again came up short rolling a 180. Jen continues to ride her groove shooting a 146 and picking up another point. Bob again bowled well with a 179 also picking up another point. Andrew continued to torch the pins, whether it was in the pocket or carrying Brooklyn, and shot a 215 – breaking…..

Finally, those red dots are explained!!!

For the past month, those red dots having been appearing on the bottom of the TV after almost every other commercial break.  It was driving me mad because it was happening across a number of shows.  Now, I’m not one naive enough to think that there was a problem with the TV and I assumed it was some Fox marketing ploy.  Turns out, that is exactly what it is.

The red dots were actually the eyes of a terminator.  Fox was introducing the new series titled Terminator: the Sarah Conner Chronicles.  TSCC will begin airing in January around the same time as my favorite show, 24.  The question remains though, will I have an open time slot for TSCC?  Maybe, I’m beginning to make room by cutting shows (Life and Private Practice so far).

As summer ends and fall begins…..

Could only mean three things:  volleyball is coming to an end, bowling is back in full swing two nights a week, and fall TV is back.  I used to think that I didn’t watch that much TV even though I had some favorites.  However, have checking my DVR, it appears that I watch too much damn TV.  After much anticipation for fall premieres from The Office, Boston Legal, Heroes, Prison Break, The Unit, House, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy, My Name is Earl, and Scrubs; my DVR f’ed up and I missed half of those.  Luckily for networks streaming episodes online, I was able to catch up.

And since I clearly didn’t have enough to watch, some summer shows are ongoing.  Top Chef still has a few great episodes remaining, along with Anthony Bordain and Andrew Zimmern.  To top off my couch-potatoness, I’ve added some new shows to the list.  Newly added shows and first impressions:  K-ville – average and probably won’t last, Journeyman – have yet to watch the recording, Chuck – I think this show will turn out ok, Cane – have yet to watch recording, Pushing Daisies – has yet to premiere, Private Practice – incredibly bad and should be removed immediately, Dirty Sexy Money – I like it, Back To You – Funny but a little slow at times, Big Shots – its not bad (could be a guy thing though), Moonlight – what can I say, I have a thing for the unreal.

Not to forget, Nip/Tuck will be back soon and hopefully better than last season.  Oy vey!  I may need a few more hours in the day, or I’ll just have to give some up.  More than likely, some of them won’t make it.
